At Hartcliff Farm, we’ve always believed that farming is about more than just productivity—it’s about caring for the land we steward. That’s why, in early 2023, we partnered with the Woodland Trust through their MOREwoods scheme to plant over 600 native trees on a half-hectare of pasture. The goal wasn’t profit—it was to create a thriving habitat that supports biodiversity, improves soil health, and leaves a legacy that will outlast us.

We chose species suited to our windswept Dorset site, with help from local volunteers and the Trust’s advice. Already, we’re seeing more birdlife and signs that the new woodland is blending into our broader vision of a sustainable, chemical-free farm. It’s not without challenges—delays and deer-proofing included—but we’re proud to have made a start. I’ve shared more about our experience in a recent Farmers Guide article, which you can read here:
